Terminology- Sound

For now this will be the last post on terminology, thank goodness. On the down side this post will have  a lack of pictures due to it being on sound, sorry.

Diegetic- Sound which is there during recording e.g. dialogue.
Non-diegetic- Sound added in e.g. music.
Ambient- Background sounds e.g. cars, wind.
Asynchronous- Indigenous to the action but not synchronised with the action.
Contrapuntal- Music that doesn’t fit in with the scene.
Dialogue- Talking.
Direct address- Breaking the forth wall.
Pitch- Frequency of audible sound.
Voice over- Talking over the action.
Sound bridge- Sound from previous scene carries over to the next one.
Sound motif- Sound that links with character, settings, situation or idea.
Sound track- Music and voice overs added to film post-production.

All done!
